Because your brain is flesh and blood like the rest of your body, it will eventually show aging signs that you may already be experiencing. Do you have memory problems that seem to go beyond the ordinary? Do you find it difficult to follow a conversation or find the right word, get confused in new places, or struggle with tasks that once came easy? Everyone has these experiences sometimes, but if they happen regularly, they may be signs of brain age or even Alzheimer's disease.
You take care of your body; you've been taking care of your heart, so now are you really a model of health and fitness? Maybe not, sometimes we forget about our brain health. Now, for a few of you this idea may seem mundane. But for many others it will be a new concept. Why? Because I know from experience that many people consider the brain as a mysterious computer. But remember, your brain isn't a computer; it's a flesh and blood organ just like your heart. But sometimes we do not consider the brain as needing attention.
There are many scientifically proven things to consider that may benefit or hurt your brain:
-Poor nutrition hurts your brain.
-Chronic, unbalanced stress ruins your memory
-Lack of physical exercise ages your brain and your body.
-Lack of stimulating mental activity accelerates brain aging.
Memory loss may be reversed by using some of the following suggestions:
-Diet and supplements: The food you eat makes a big difference in your memory function. Certain high fat foods, such as grain-fed beef clog up your brain cells, while fish such as Alaskan salmon, vegetables and fruit actually protect it. Moreover, there are a number of memory-specific supplemental nutrients that can make a big difference as well.
-Exercise: Research has clearly shown the importance of physical, mental, and mind/body exercise in maximizing your memory. Exercise may even grow new brain cells, recent research denotes.
-Stress Management: This is critically important, because, research suggest that chronic, unbalanced stress kills brain cells in the hippocampus, your brain's memory center. The practice of regular relaxation techniques and social activity can help.
-Anti-aging hormone replacement therapy: There may be a place for the artful replacement of certain hormones to help maintain not only optimal physical health, but brain health as well.
